Teacher Spotlight: Matías Añón

This month, we interviewed Matiás, one of our fantastic art teachers. Matiás has been a member of the Scribble team since 2019, and most recently was the lead teacher for our Dyckman Farmhouse Summer Camp. This fall, he’ll be involved in some exciting new programs in the NYC area.

What’s your favorite scribble project?

My favorite scribble project is the mixed media abstract sculpture. There's always such a wide range of approaches and end results that students come up with for that project.

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by things I read or watch and artwork made by other artists.

What's something you hope every student takes away from their art classes with you?

I hope that every student leaves my class knowing that there is no "right" or "wrong" way to go about making art, and that ideas and inspiration for artmaking can come from anywhere.
