Pre-Scribbler Summer Camp at our Byrds Hill Farm studio includes daily morning walks on our private hiking trails, collaborative outdoor earthworks, animal visits, sensory open play and of course, tons of art-making in the studio! Healthy snack is provided.
Week 1 (July 23rd-27th) Super Size Me | Large Scale Art
Is bigger better? This week of camp it will be! All of our paintings, sculptures and collages will be bigger than our artists!
Week 2 (August 13th-17th) The Art of Storytelling | Inspirational Books
There are so many amazing children's books about making art, exploring color, line, shape, and looking at the world in a different way. This week, our artwork will be inspired by a book we read each day.

Scribbler Summer Camp for Grades K-4
Scribbler Summer Camp in our Byrds Hill Farm studio includes daily walks on the Aqueduct trail, collaborative outdoor earthworks, open play, lunch at the local playground and of course, tons of art-making in the studio! Every Friday, we'll be creating a special exhibition of our artwork or going on a local field trip. Healthy snack is provided, you send a bagged lunch or you can get lunch from Mix on Main for $7/day (panini and a smoothie).
Week 1 (June 25th-29th) Bon Appétit! | Food Week
We'll be kicking off summer camp with a week of food inspired art-making! We will begin the week by exploring the art of sculpting by creating large-scale pâpier maché food sculptures of our favorite entrées. Next, we will be sculpting small fimo fruit sculptures that we will put into glitter globes! Lastly, we will exploring the art of printmaking by carving some seriously sweet dessert prints. We will cap our week off by setting up a “Dinner Table” exhibit for our families to come see our food masterpieces!
Week 2 (July 9th-13th) Making a House a Home | Architecture & Interior Design
Join us for week filled with the in’s and out’s of transforming wooden houses into beautiful homes! We will begin our week with the exterior, focusing on roofing and painting our houses. As the week progresses, we will focus on updating the interior from the wallpaper to carpeting to building furniture. Our week will end with an amazing open house (literally) for our families to come see all of our hard work!
Week 3 (July 16th-20th) Honey, I Shrunk My Artwork | Miniature Week
For miniature week, we will be focusing on making itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny small-scale pieces of artwork. Challenging our fine-motor skills, we will be exploring art-making on a very different scale with small accordion books and masterpieces on tiny canvases. We will also be exploring sculpture by building miniature shadow boxes. We will end our week by inviting our families to the Guinness Book of World Record’s smallest art gallery opening!
Week 4 (July 23rd-27th) Super Size Me | Large Scale Art
Is bigger better? This week of camp it will be! If your artists dream big, then this week is for them. We will begin the week by creating GIANT self-portraits. Next, we'll explore all the steps to creating large-scale creature sculptures from drawing a sketch, to building an armature, to adding form and finally to adding "skin" using plaster and paint. At the end of the week, we will invite our families to our ginormous art show to check out our work.
Week 5 (July 30th-August 3rd) From Start to Finish | Maze & Puzzle Week
We will START our week creating complex 3-D puzzles and FINISH our week with some a-mazeing board games! There will be a lot of exciting twists and turns along the way, beware of traps. We will END our week with a game night (during the day) where families can join us to test out our games!
Week 6 (August 6th-10th) Mapping the Hudson | Cartography Week
How lucky are we to have the Hudson River in our backyard? This week will focus on observing our surroundings to create topographical maps of Dobbs Ferry! We will also be making daily visits to the river to make observational drawings of it and its wildlife! We will end our week with a field trip to the Hudson River Museum.
Week 7 (August 13th-17th) The Art of Storytelling | Storyboard Design
This week we will focus on creating original stories with complex characters and interesting plots. We will be building our own storyboards that explain our narrative through different mediums such as collage, painting and printmaking! At the end of the week we will invite our families in for storytelling and a Q&A with the authors and illustrators!
Week 8 (August 20th-24th) Back to School in Style | DIY School Supplies
What is the best way to kick those end of summer blues? How about making your own Back-to-School supplies?! Artists will spend the week creating unique and beautiful school supplies. From printing your own backpack design to painting your binders and molding your own erasers! We will end our week by inviting our families to our “Back to School” Fashion Show!
